Herstory
- Yield7 deeply want to believe
that they are from another planet. Quite possibly they are. A planet where
pure noise is loved as the sound of nature and a benelovent government
grants every person a high-horsepower motor vehicle to cruise vast empty
spaces at large velocity, massive G-forces on corners and wind blowing
in the open window.
- It has taken them some time to reach this
conclusion. Though this is Tim2's first band, Lupo and Tim have been attempting
to reach their true roots for many years using musical methods. Inherent
Obscurity, based in Steyr in Upper Austria, was Lupo's tool for attempting
to regain his herstory. Only an out-of-print cassette marks their passing.
Different directions and ideas cristallizing out of the first tries got
stronger than the cohesive powers - expansion with less density came somehow
to a state of almost zero traction. But all members who joined that not
common trio are still working and delivering new ways of expression and
communication. Tim's activities are somewhat more pointless, as he wandered
from one musical endeavour to another. Starting with the Swamp Monsters,
a garage pop-punk band from Perth, Western Australia, after a massively
overproduced EP ``Introducing The..'', a rather nice bunch of touring vast
distances (obviously an influence from his pre-Earth days) and some other
miscellaneous nonsense, he gave up on the nice-boy approach. Then followed
T-Roll, starting as an art-rock experiment it degenerated into wailing
noise laid over dance rhythm drums and an unstoppable rolling thunder of
bass. Tim obviously had some inkling as to his true roots as the band toured
more, released a cassette "Optimism" (1990) and the album "Beware
Overhead Live God" (1991) via the TTT label in Perth. Still this wasn't
the truth. Hitting Austria in late 1991, Tim joined Tom's Lesion and continued
his search for absolutes, this time without the hindrance of a guitar.
The Lesion released some sampler tracks, and a split live album (called
"Live", duh!) on the Brefkas Ready label based in Vienna. The
band haven't died yet, but life is not very apparent. Finally 1994 led
to the birth of Yield7 and it became apparent: driving, lesbianism and
noise were the only necessities.
