| Skys² A camera takes pictures of the sky every minute. It stores the pictures in a database with timestamp and weather information of the local area. The idea is to shrink the pictures in the database to a smaller size and use them as tiles for drawing the realtime sky. The result of this process can be seen as an interactive collage or photomosaic. The software produced for the project will examine the database and with template matching and light intesity correspondance it will locate tiles which are most suited to draw the real sky and arrange them in an appropriate order. The user can then zoom into the picture of the realtime sky to enlarge the tiles and retrieve associated time and weather information. The motivation for the piece is that each skyscape is individual and this provides a metaphor for pluralism and difference in society, an important message in terms of current issues of globalism and racial difference. Look at the picture on the right, these are examples of a photomosaic,
to give an impression of the technique and aesthetics of the piece.
